Stokesley Parish Church concert

By Popular Demand, Karl Jenkins Stunning 'Mass for Peace, The Armed Man' is back at Stokesley Parish Church on Saturday November 8,2008.

In April 2005 Stokesley and District Choral Society and Orchestra made the first full performance in the North East of The Armed Man. It was highly acclaimed, as a result the Society and Conductor Paul Dewhurst decided to bring back 'The Armed Man' for their Autumn Concert this year.

Commissioned to commemorate the millennium by the Royal Armouries, the work was first performed at
the new Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds in 2000.

It draws on texts from many different sources and times, concluding with Tennyson's exhortation
to: Ring out the thousand wars of old, ring in the thousand years of peace.'

The Armed Man' has terrific range, intensity and beauty; its shear impact and presence dictated that it would be noticed' and it was!

Stokesley Choral Society has again assembled a talented array of musicians and soloists to present what is likely to be another memorable performance. Don't miss this second opportunity to hear this work, together with Vivaldi's much loved Gloria on Saturday, November 8 at Stokesley Parish Church.
