Equality through democracy is also positively encouraged, through the young members of the school council who add their opinions to school decisions.

Headteacher Jacky Warburton told Gazette People: Since I started here three years ago I have seen great developments.

The building has been refurbished and we have a new school uniform.

We have a breakfast club and a Men Behaving Dadly Club, where fathers come to interact with their children.

We focus a lot on praise to help the children achieve, and encourage them and the parents to become involved.?

The children grow their own vegetables, study different cultures and food, and have at least two hours exercise every week.

Fresh home-cooked meals are also on offer for lunch, and well-behaved pupils with good manners get to sit at the star table? and eat off star-shaped plates.

Rated as good by Ofsted, the school won the Basic Skills Quality Mark twice and is now working towards attaining Healthy School status.
