The Stokesley Scene Collection update
We wish to thank all Stokesley people who have been interested in, and supported The Stokesley Scene Collection: Life in a Yorkshire Market Town. This article is to update you on our progress post-publication.
Book launch: Stokesley Show
The book was launched at Stokesley Show with the Rt. Hon. William Hague MP and Cllr Mike Richardson helping to ensure that our launch went well. We would like to thank Catherine Brooker (Head Teacher) and Tim Dunn of Stokesley School who let us share their marquee as part of the school's 50th anniversary celebrations, pictured Peter Hallworth one of the editors is discussing the book with The Rt Hon William Hague MP who wrote the foreword for the publication and supported by Cllr Mike Richardson.
Web site upgrade
Our web site has been growing thanks to Andrew Grass who built and maintains it for us. We hope it will be informative to anyone with an interest in this project. We would like to expand it with a section called "Praise for The Stokesley Scene Collection". People have been very complementary about the book and we'd like to capture some of these quotes online. If you feel able to send a quote we can use and/ or (as an added twist) a photograph of you and/ or your family holding or reading the book we would like to include these. It would also be useful to say where you are living so that we can illustrate just how far the book travels! As the web site grows hopefully all with an interest in Stokesley people (and people with an interest in Stokesley) will enjoy returning to the web site.

Shops stocking the book
We have been very lucky in the shops (and a hotel) that have kindly stocked the book. In Stokesley the shops are: Style, the Yorkshire Store, the Stokesley Gallery and Joe Cornish Gallery. Chapters Hotel is also selling copies to people visiting the town. Waterstones in Middlesbrough is also stocking it and has featured the book on its recommended table. WHSmith in Middlesbrough gave a positive response and the book is currently going through its internal selection processes. We hope to have a definitive "yes" from them shortly.
The book will also be on sale with 'Coutts Cues' a specialist hand crafted snooker cue maker and retailer of associated equipment and books. They will be at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield this Thursday evening 30th Oct. when Mark Selby who is featured in the book playes Ronnie O'Sullivan. We would also be delighted to be approached by other reputable outlets.
Just as a reminder, anyone unable to get to the shops can write directly to me enclosing a cheque made out to: Peter Hallworth (25 plus 2 P&P in the UK per copy, overseas postage by arrangement). Address: 14 Blenheim Close, Skellingthorpe, Lincs, LN6 5TL, UK.
Library services
Many people may wish to see the book in their local library. We are delighted to announce that Lincolnshire Libraries have been the first to purchase copies. The book is also under review by Stokesley Library who needs to liaise with North Yorkshire County Council we think. We hope to hear back from them soon. We would like to see the book in more libraries. If you feel able to ask your local library to stock the book - we believe it has broad appeal - and ask the appropriate person to get in touch with me it would really be most helpful.
Thank you to all those who have already purchased a book and with Christmas shortly upon us this publication would also make a great gift.
