Fresh from their successful 'sell out' concert on the 8th November, Stokesley and District Choral Society are looking forward to their 'Festival of Christmas Music' in December.
The November concert featured Vivaldi, Gloria and Karl Jenkin's 'The Armed Man.'
Praise was directed particularly to: the choir for their energy and crisp pronunciation in the Gloria and also for unaccompanied segments Save Me from Bloody Men and Better is Peace in The Armed Man.
The excellent orchestral performances, particularly lovely solos on violin and cello by Michael Walton and Penny Ferguson respectively.
Muezzin Walid Alam who intoned the 'Call to Prayers' with such haunting beauty.
Mezzo Soprano, Joanna Gamble for her moving delivery of 'Now the Guns have Stopped', Musical Director Paul Dewhurst for his conducting and virtuoso organ recital of JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in C minor.
Stokesley and District Choral Society are now rehearsing for their FESTIVAL OF CHRISTMAS MUSIC. This ever popular concert will be at Stokesley Parish Church on Saturday 13th December 2008, at 7-30pm.
This year Roseberry Community Primary School Choir will once again be joining the Choral Society, adding the magic of childhood Christmases.
During the performance a collection will be made for Zoe's Place (a Baby Hospice and Respite Centre based in Normanby). Get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!
Tickets are available from: Brown's Newsagents, Stokesley; From Choral Society Members or ring 01845 578008
