GREAT Ayton youngsters are getting their boats ready for the village's traditional annual Parade of Sail.
The pageant will see scores of home-made craft sail down the River Leven to mark the 280th anniversary of Captain James Cook's birthday.
As a youngster, Cook lived locally and went to school in the village before going on to sail the seas from Whitby on his world-famous voyages of exploration.
The event begins at Low Green, Great Ayton, on Wednesday at 9.30am with judging of the best boat. Races begin at 10am.
All entries must be booked in advance with Louise Granger on 01845 524964.
