THE husband of a woman tragically killed in a horrific road crash has paid tribute to his wife.
Peter Jones described his wife Cindy as a “lovely, likeable lady who had many friends in their Stokesley neighbourhood and would be known around Cleveland from her work as a supply teacher.
Mr Jones, 74, a retired deputy headteacher of Thornaby Village Primary School, said: “It’s tragic. Cindy was very well loved. She was a lovely, likeable lady.
“Everybody knew her. She could sometimes go to the High Street for a loaf of bread and it would take her an hour because she would talk to so many people. She was very well known and well liked.
Mrs Jones, 62, of Ashwood Drive, Stokesley, was struck by a black Audi car after it was involved in a smash with a Ford Mondeo.

The crash took place near her home at about 5pm on the Stokesley to Tanton Road on the outskirts of the town on Saturday night as she walked her dogs. She was declared dead at the scene.
Mr Jones wished to thank the police and the people of Stokesley for the support they have been giving him and the couple’s two daughters, aged 32 and 27, following the tragedy.
He said: “The astounding thing is the tremendous support we have had from the community, not just our neighbours and friends but the community as a whole. Our family are very appreciative.
A 69-year-old man, who was driving the Audi, also from Stokesley, sustained injuries not believed life-threatening and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police has said the cars were travelling in opposite directions prior to the collision.
A man and a woman from Hemlington in Middlesbrough were also involved in the accident but not injured.
The road - the B1365 near Ivy Lodge - has been described by locals as an accident blackspot.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident should call Traffic Constable Paul Moon or Sergeant Neil Campbell on 0845 6060 247.
