Roadworks in and around Middlesbrough

SLIP ROAD CLOSURE - NEWPORT INTERCHANGE

The slip road from Newport Roundabout onto the A66 eastbound, was closed in November 2008 for approximately 4 months, to enable the progression of works associated with the North Middlesbrough Accessibility Scheme. Diversions will be via Newport Road and Hartington Interchange. Traffic is being encouraged through signage to use the A19 flyover and A66 rather than Newport Bridge, to ease pressure on the diversion route.

A66 MAINTENANCE WORKS

Lane closures are necessary each Sunday at various locations on the A66 for detailed inspection works, gully cleaning, repairs to street lighting etc.

Maintenance works involving an off-side lane closure will take place on Sunday 11/01/09, on the eastbound carriageway from west of Middlehaven Interchange to Cargo Fleet roundabout, including exit and entry slips at Middlehaven Interchange.

MAJOR WORKS/ TEMPORARY CLOSURES

BRIDGE STREET EAST - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Works are continuing to reconstruct the carriageway and footways on Bridge Street East. Bridge Street East is now open between Windward Way and Gray Street, but will remain closed until February 2009 between Queens Square and Windward Way. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.

ACKLAM ROAD ROUNDABOUT

Lumsden and Carroll Construction Ltd, will continue works until the February 2009 to construct a new roundabout on Acklam Road, at the junction of Springvale Terrace. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation.

WILTON STREET, TOWN CENTRE

A temporary road closure will be in place from 05/01/08 for 6 weeks, between the junctions with Waterloo Road and Victoria Road, for sewer connection works at Teesside University Campus.

A172 DIXONS BANK, MARTON

Temporary traffic signals will be in operation between the junctions with Stainton Way and Guisborough Road, from Tuesday 06/01/09 until Friday 16/01/09, to enable NWL to carry out water main repairs in the carriageway.

CEDARWOOD GLADE, STAINTON

Resurfacing works will take place between the period of 05/01/09 and 14/02/09.

STOKESLEY ROAD, NUNTHORPE

Resurfacing works will take place between the period of 05/01/09 and 14/02/09, from the junction with Guisborough Road to Poole Roundabout.

HIGH RIFTS/ FAWCETT AVENUE, STAINTON

Resurfacing works will take place between the period of 05/01/09 and 14/02/09.

DALBY WAY, COULBY NEWHAM

Construction of new kerb lines will take place between 05/01/09 and 14/02/09.

MINOR WORKS

FOUNTAINS DRIVE, ACKLAM

NGN works are continuing in the footpath along the full length of the road until 05/02/09.

DARENTH CRESCENT, BERWICK HILLS

NGN works will continue in the footpath, between the junctions of Langridge Road and Tanhill Walk, until 04/02/09.

BIRKHALL ROAD, THORNTREE

NGN works commenced on 01/12/08 to renew the mains between the junction with The Greenway and no. 38. The works will continue until 06/01/09.

STREET LIGHTING MAINTENANCE WORKS

The general maintenance of street lighting columns is continuously ongoing at various locations in Middlesbrough.

FOOTPATH WORKS

TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE - NORMANBY ROAD TO ORMESBY SCHOOL

Work is due to commence in early January 2009 on the demolition and subsequent construction of Ormesby and Priory Woods School. The footpath will be closed throughout the work to ensure public safety and work is programmed for completion by July 2010.

GLENEAGLES ROAD, BEECHWOOD

Work to replace grass verges in some areas, is expected to be completed by 09/01/09.

MALVERN DRIVE, ACKLAM

Footpath refurbishment works, to include a concrete strip for vehicle trespass, has been suspended over the Christmas period, but will resume in early January 2009.

MARTON ROAD

Footpath renewal works between St. Joseph's School and Belle Vue Grove Roundabout, has been suspended over the Christmas period, but will resume in early January 2009.
