Roadworks in Middlesbrough this week

A66 ROADWORKS

NORTH MIDDLESBROUGH ACCESSIBILITY SCHEME

Construction works have commenced on the proposed access road linking the A66/ Cannon Park Interchange with Riverside Park Road. Lane restrictions are currently in place during off-peak periods on the A66 westbound carriageway, however there are no lane restrictions on the A66 eastbound carriageway. A 30mph speed limit is in place in both directions and delays are expected.

WINDWARD WAY/ DOCK STREET JUNCTION - TEMPORARY CLOSURE

Commencing Tuesday 2nd December, the above junction will be opened to northbound traffic only, each morning from 07.30 am until 9.30 am Monday to Friday.

Due to weight restrictions there will be no access for HGV or PSV vehicles and they will be required to use the existing diversion.

The junction will be closed at all other times as part of ongoing reconstruction works on Bridge Street East and the works will continue until 12th December 2008.

SLIP ROAD CLOSURE - NEWPORT INTERCHANGE

The slip road from Newport Roundabout onto the A66 eastbound, was closed in November 2008 for approximately 4 months, to enable the progression of works associated with the North Middlesbrough Accessibility Scheme. Diversions will be via Newport Road and Hartington Interchange.

HEYWOOD STREET, NEWPORT

Lane closures may be in place as part of the NMA Scheme. Delays will be expected.

A66 MAINTENANCE WORKS

Lane closures are necessary each Sunday at various locations on the A66 for detailed inspection works, gully cleaning, repairs to street lighting and road sweeping. Washing of street sign name plates and direction signs to take place until further notice.

Maintenance works involving an off-side lane closure will take place on Sunday 30th November 2008, on the A66 westbound main carriageway from Cargo Fleet Roundabout to west of Middlehaven Interchange, including exit and entry slips at Middlehaven Interchange.

VARIOUS LOCATIONS

BOROUGH ROAD/ ABINGDON ROAD JUNCTION

Lane restrictions will be in place on Borough Road at the above location, for emergency NGN works, commencing 1st December 2008.

WHITEHOUSE LEVEL CROSSING

Overnight closures will be in place for essential maintenance work by Network Rail, on Saturday 29th November and Saturday 6th December 2008.
The crossing will close at 22.45 hrs and will re-open at 08.00 hrs the following morning. Diversions will be in place along Dockside Road, Cargo Fleet Lane and the A66.

BRIDGE STREET EAST - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Works are continuing to reconstruct the carriageway and footways on Bridge Street East, from Queens Square to Gray Street. The development works will continue until December 2008 and although the road will be closed to vehicles, pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this period.

WINDWARD WAY/ BRIDGE STREET EAST JUNCTION

The above junction has been closed until 12th December 2008, as part of ongoing reconstruction works on Bridge Street East. Diversions will be signed, however the route will remain open to pedestrians.

NEWHAM WAY, COULBY NEWHAM

Loop cutting was scheduled to commence on 26th November 2008, on Newham Way north of Stainton Way Roundabout. Traffic management may be in place using Stop/ Go boards.

SOUTHFIELD ROAD

Loop cutting is scheduled to begin during the week commencing 1st December 2008, in 2 locations on Southfield Road - west of Newlands Road and west of Woodlands Road. Traffic management may be in place using Stop/ Go boards.

HEMLINGTON LAKE - CYCLEWAY

Loop cutting is scheduled to begin during the week commencing 1st December 2008, on the cycleway at the above location.

NEWICK AVENUE, TOWN FARM

NGN works have commenced to replace 105m of gas main in the footpath outside no's 2-22. The works will continue until 11th December 2008.

GRAYGARTH ROAD, FEWSTON CLOSE, BRANSDALE ROAD, BERWICK HILLS

NGN works have been postponed until further notice.

STOKESLEY ROAD, NUNTHORPE

NGN works have been postponed and will now commence on 1st December. The works, to replace 120m of gas main in the footpath from no. 20 Stokesley Road to the junction with Grey Towers Drive, will continue until 12th December 2008 and traffic management will be in operation with the use of temporary traffic lights.

CARISBROOKE AVENUE, THORNTREE

NGN works will continue until 11th December 2008, to renew the mains along the full length of the road.

SHREWSBURY ROAD, THORNTREE

NGN work will continue until 29th December 2008, to renew the mains between no's 1 and 23.

BIRKHALL ROAD, THORNTREE

NGN works are scheduled to commence on 1st December, to renew the mains between the junction with The Greenway and no. 38. The works will continue until 23rd December 2008.

ACKLAM ROAD ROUNDABOUT

Lumsden and Carroll Construction Ltd, will continue works until January 2009 to construct a new roundabout on Acklam Road, at the junction of Springvale Terrace. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation until Christmas 2008.

BRIDGE STREET WEST

NEDL will be laying LV cables in the footpath between Sussex Street and Albert Street, until 03rd December 2008.

STREET LIGHTING MAINTENANCE WORKS

The general maintenance of street lighting columns is continuously ongoing at various locations in Middlesbrough.

FOOTPATH WORKS

PINEWOOD ROAD AREA, MARTON

Footpath resurfacing works are ongoing at the above location.

GLENEAGLES ROAD, BEECHWOOD

Works are ongoing to replace grass verges at the above location.

MALVERN DRIVE, BROOKFIELD

Works are ongoing to refurbish of footpaths at the above location, including a concrete strip for vehicle trespass.

HOYLAKE ROAD, BEECHWOOD

Works are ongoing to replace grass verges in certain areas.

MOORTOWN ROAD, BEECHWOOD

Works are ongoing to replace grass verges with paving at the above location.

MALLOWDALE, NUNTHORPE

Footpath resurfacing works are ongoing between Stainton Way and Clevegate.

MARTON ROAD

Footpath renewal works between St. Joseph's School and Belle Vue Grove Roundabout have been suspended until after the Christmas period.
