Avoid the traffic jams in Middlesbrough

A66 HIGH MAST COLUMN INSTALLATION

Enabling works are due to commence for the installation of high mast columns, on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways, between the A19 Interchange and Cargo Fleet Interchange. Off-peak lane closures may be in place as the works progress and delays may be expected.

MIDDLESBROUGH MUSIC LIVE

A large area will be fenced around Central Square for Middlesbrough Music Live, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 1st June 2008. There will be one main entrance on Albert Road.
The following roads will be closed from 06.00am on Sunday 1st June until 06.00am on Monday 2nd June 2008.
Albert Road, from the junction with Corporation Road to the junction with Grange Road.
Corporation Road, from the junction with Albert Road to the junction with Beech Street.
Dunning Street, Pine Street, Elm Street, Oak Street, Elliot Street and Beech Street, all from their junctions with Corporation Road.
However access for pedestrians and Emergency Services will maintained at all times. Diversions will be signed with alternative routes for traffic available via Albert Road, Wilson Street, Marton Road and Borough Road.

BRIDGE STREET WEST – TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Works commenced on Tuesday 6th May 2008 on a storm water sewer on Bridge Street West. The road will be closed between the junction with Stockton Street and the junction with Queen’s Square for 5 weeks. Diversions will be in place.

BRIDGE STREET WEST/ BOUNDARY ROAD JUNCTION

Traffic lights will be in operation during off-peak periods at the above location, between 9th and 15th May 2008.

ZETLAND ROAD

Traffic lights will be in operation for NGN works, adjacent to the Railway Station, between 12th and 15th May 2008.

BRIDGE STREET EAST – TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Works are continuing to reconstruct the carriageway and footways on Bridge Street East, from Queens Square to Gray Street. The development works will continue until mid October 2008 and although the road will be closed to vehicles, pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this period.

A66 ACOUSTIC BARRIER

Works will continue until 30th May 2008 to replace the existing brick walls with acoustic fencing. The works are located on the northern and southern boundaries of the A66 corridor, between the A19 Interchange and Cannon Park Interchange.

ORMESBY ROAD

NGN works will commence on 19th May 2008, to replace an old main within the footpath outside Croxdale Fast Fit (at the junction with Balmoral Road). The works will continue until 4th July 2008.

ACKLAM ROAD

NGN works will commence on 26th May 2008, to replace and old main within the footpath on Acklam Road, between Stainsby Road and opposite the Post Office. The works will continue until 6th June 2008.

LONGLANDS ROAD

NGN works will commence on 19th May 2008, to replace an old main within the footpath on Longlands Road, from the junction with McCreton Street to the junction with Ormesby Road. The works will continue until 2nd June 2008.

PARK ROAD NORTH

NGN works are continuing outside 3 Park Road North until 16th May 2008.

HIGHFIELD ROAD

NWL works will commence on 19th May 2008, at the entrance to a new development (former Guide Dogs for the blind), near the junction with Lansdowne Road. The works will continue until 16th June 2008.

B1380 NORMANBY ROAD, ORMESBY – TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

The section of Normanby Road from the A171 Cargo Fleet Lane to Allendale Road will be closed for bridge demolition works on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May 2008. Traffic will be diverted along Allendale Road and Ainstable Road. Temporary traffic lights will then be in operation for a further 5 days to complete the scheme.

BOROUGH WIDE SIGNING – MARTON ROAD CORRIDOR

Works to replace the existing advance directional signing on Marton Road/ Stokesley Road are continuing until late May 2008. Works will be located predominantly within the verges and footways, between the borough boundary in the south and Longlands Road in the north.

BOROUGH WIDE SIGNING – ACKLAM ROAD CORRIDOR

Works to replace the existing advance directional signing on Acklam Road/ B1365 will continue until the end of May 2008. Works will be located predominantly within the verges and footways, between the borough boundary in the south and Heywood Street in the north.

INGRAM ROAD/ IDA ROAD/ LAVENDER ROAD, BERWICK HILLS

NGN works are in progress to replace a gas main within the footpaths at the above locations. The works will continue until 4th June 2008.

ACKLAM ROUNDABOUT

Works to construct a new roundabout on Acklam Road, at the junction of Springvale Terrace, have been unavoidably postponed. They are now scheduled to commence in June 2008.

GUNNERGATE LANE, COULBY NEWHAM

Works are continuing on the installation of a parking lay-by (approximately 60 metres) outside Fairy Dell Park. The works are expected to be complete by 19th May 2008.

RYE HILL WAY, COULBY NEWHAM

Works were due to commence on 13th May 2008 to remove boulders from one side of the carriageway to the other at the roundabout on Rye Hill Way. The works are expected to continue for 2 days and traffic management will be in place.

LYTTON STREET, LONGLANDS

Works have commenced to create a temporary access into a new development at the above location. The works will continue until further notice.

SALTWELLS ROAD, LONGLANDS

Works are continuing to install flood defence walls adjacent to Calvert Carpets on Saltwells Road, near the junction with North Ormesby Road. The footpath will remain closed as the works progress and they are expected to be complete by late May 2008.

STREET LIGHTING MAINTENANCE WORKS

The general maintenance of street lighting columns is continuously ongoing at various locations in Middlesbrough.

FOOTPATH WORKS

MARTON ROAD, AINDERBY WAY AREA, BEECHWOOD

Works are continuing to refurbish the footpath at the above location.

CLAIRVILLE ROAD (AT SIDE OF ST JOSEPH’S)

Works are ongoing to install anti skid surface at the school crossing.

AXMINSTER ROAD, HEMLINGTON

Works are ongoing to the side of No. 19, on a new kerb-line and the installation of a gully, including a land drain to relieve flooding problems.

WHERNSIDE, NUNTHORPE

Footpath resurfacing works commenced on 15th May 2008 to the rear of no’s 2-26. The works will continue for approximately 10 days.

SKIDDAW COURT, NUNTHORPE

Footpath resurfacing works are due to commence on 19th May 2008 between no’s 1-29 and no’s 34-44. The works will continue for approximately 10 days.
