A WELL-KNOWN order of religious sisters in Middlesbrough is marking a 150-year milestone with a special mass.
The Faithful Companions of Jesus, (FCJs) will hold the celebration at St Mary’s Cathedral, Coulby Newham, on Saturday April 5.
Bishop Terence Drainey, the new Bishop of Middlesbrough, will open the mass at noon.
The worship marks the death of the FCJ’s founder, the Venerable Marie-Madeleine d'Houet, whose order sent five sisters to Middlesbrough in 1872. The pioneers founded several schools including Newlands at Saltersgill.
