WHEN much-loved dinner lady Audrey Murray retired after 32 years, youngsters and staff gave her the best-ever present.

They had a special assembly to hand over a tub filled with her favourite flowers - and a £200 voucher to buy lots more for her award-winning garden.
“I was crying and so were the children, said 65 year-old Audrey, of The Oaks, Hemlington.
“I absolutely loved them and it was emotional saying goodbye.
She left Hemlington Hall Primary in February and now spends every single day in her beautiful cottage garden which won second place in a housing association’s Yorkshire-wide competition.

“I just love gardening and everyone knows what birthday, Christmas and Mother’s Day present to buy me - garden centre vouchers, said grandma Audrey.
“I must spend a fortune - at least £200 to £300 a year - on stuffing my garden full of plants.
“I love lots of colour and I have tried to create a garden like the ones I saw as a child.
“There are lots of old-fashioned flowers from hollyhocks to roses, pansies and sweet peas.

“These days I spend all my time in the garden which has a bird bath and little fairies dotted among the flowers.
