MIDDLESBROUGH’S Stewart Park is 80 years old on Friday.
And to mark the event, Middlesbrough Council is inviting anyone in the town who was born during May 1928 to join them at a special birthday celebration.
The event will start outside the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum at 10.30am.
The park was given to the town in 1928 by Councillor Thomas Dormand Stewart.
His grand-nephew Christopher Dormand Stewart, will start the celebrations on Friday and a flowerbed commemorating the 80th anniversary of the park will be unveiled.
A birthday card design competition for local children will also be judged during the event.
Anyone who celebrates their 80th birthday this month and who wants to take part in the event should call the council office at Stewart Park on 01642 300202 before mid-day on Thursday.
