POLICE have issued a warning after an 84-year-old Teesside woman was targeted by bogus officials.
The two men posed as npower workers when they called on the pensioner in the Nunthorpe area and asked to see the woman’s bills. They said they were doing utility checks.
They showed ID but flashed it too quickly for it to be clear.
The two con men made their excuses and left when the pensioner’s daughter turned up and became suspicious.

The first man had blond spiky hair and a red mark under his eye. His accomplice was of stocky build, wearing a tie but was “slightly unkempt.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Elderly need to be extra vigilant when dealing with callers to their homes.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious should call Cleveland Police on 01642 326326 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
