Five injured in double smash

A MAN suffered a badly broken arm and possible back injuries after losing control of his car and crashing on a Teesside trunk route.

He was cut from the Ford Focus by fire crews after it struck a lamp post and the central reservation on the A19 sliproad to the A174 at about 9pm last night. He was taken to James Cook University Hospital. Meanwhile four people were taken to the same hospital after their car hit a roundabout on the A66 near Asda, Grangetown at 12.30am today. Two of the occupants had to be freed by firefighters.
