MORE than 200 new festive motifs have been installed as part of a multi-million pound upgrading of street lighting across Redcar and Cleveland.
The new "Season's Greetings" lights are on the Guisborough to Middlesbrough road approaching the A171, near Somerfield supermarket at North Lodge, on Church Lane, Guisborough, Redcar Lane, Redcar, outside Easington Hall Farm on Whitby Road and on Normanby Road, South Bank, next to King George's Square. Other areas to benefit include Redcar High Street, with a new 28ft conical Christmas tree.

There is nothing Christmasy about the lights. They are blue for goodness sake. Council must have got them in a job lot. It would be a different sight altogether if they were maybe green and red - CHRISTMAS COLOURS.
I would like to know who is going to foot the electric bill as the lights are on 24/7! Not good.
What a complete and utter waste of money. This money could of been better spent. We are in a credit crunch yet the council still throws away thousands of pounds on lights and on the electricity to illuminate them.
The reason Grangetown didn't get any lights is because someone would pinch them and put them in their own back garden. ;)
