A MAN whose body was found by two doctors walking on Roseberry Topping was a Royal Navy officer, an inquest was told.
Alan Fenwick from Teesville was discovered at the base of a 100ft cliff by two hikers last Tuesday.
At Teesside Coroners' Court yesterday, coroner Michael Sheffield opened and adjourned the hearing into how the 51-year-old died.
Mr Fenwick's widow, 47-year-old swimming teacher Angela Fenwick, who lived with her husband in Grasmere Drive, provided evidence of identification. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious. The full inquest will be resumed at a later date.
Mr Fenwick's body was discovered by Dr Tony Chahal, who made the discovery at 10.40am on Tuesday, while out walking with his friend, Jay Walker.
