OWNER Glyn Taylor has dropped a major bombshell by putting the Redcar TLS Bears up for sale.
And he says that unless someone either buys it off him or makes a significant cash injection and takes financial control, he’ll close it down
The former Australian Test star only took over from founder Chris van Straaten in the winter but admitted: “I am not cut out for the job.
“It’s far more difficult than I ever expected it to be so I’m done. I am not dealing the financial pressures. By that I mean that I’m working 80 hours a week and I’m not sleeping at night. That can’t go on.
“I need someone to buy the club from me or put in a cash injection of around £20,000. I need someone to take full financial control.
“If that doesn’t happen, I’m going to have to close the club down.
Taylor’s shock announcement came the day after the patched-up Bears were walloped 66-27 at King’s Lynn.
He thought he still had something to celebrate after securing the capture of highly-rated Czech Under-21 starlet Hynek Stichauer.
But he was been told by the BSPA that Stichauer could be saddles with an assessed average of seven points rather than five - and than would preclude him from riding for the Bears because of the points limit.
The Bears are hoping to track Berwick’s Paul Clews as a guest at No 4n in tonight’s return match against King’s Lynn at South Tees Motorsports Park (tapes up 7.30pm) after being granted a guest facility for Joni Keskinen who has returned home
“He scored paid 10 guesting for Birmingham last night, said Havelock, “so he’s a good choice.
The Bears team boss also believes that, despite the emphatic margin of their runaway win last night, the Stars won’t have it all their own way this evening.
It was certainly a powerful performance by the Premier League title hopefuls on their home patch last night, with No 1 Kevin Doolan storming to a 15-point maximum and skipper Tomas Topkinka being paid for the lot.

Skipper Gary Havelock, pictured above, was the only Bears rider to put up any real resistance and supplied his side with their only race win of the night in heat 11.
It came in the black and white helmet too, although he had to fend off a determined challenge from Rusty Harrison to be sure of his six-point haul.
That win wrecked Harrison’s bid for a paid maximum, and the former world champion also denied Simon Lambert full house in the final race when he split the flying youngster and the invincible Doolan.
Josh Auty was the other Bears rider to record a decent score.
Now getting back to the form he showed last year, the Great Britain Under-21 prospect twice came from behind to beat John Oliver on his way to a seven-point total.
“It was a cricket score, admitted team boss Havelock. “They were flying out of the gate and leaving us for dead.
“But tonight is a different matter. We’re on our home track and I can’t see their
reserves going as well as they did last night.
“We’ve never managed to beat King’s Lynn yet, but I think we could have a decent chance tonight if we get a good guest.
