BUSINESSES have helped to raise more than £20,000 for local charities - thanks to a team of kindhearted bikers.

Century Radio launched their new Bring a Pound to Work Day by calling on the support of the Boundary 500 motorcycle fundraisers who covered hundreds of miles collecting money from dozens of workers across the North-east.
So far, more than £20,000 has been collected, but organisers are confident the final sum will be even higher.
The money will then be split between three charities - Macmillan Cancer Support, Wear 1 and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, which is based in Middlesbrough.
Rachael Bareham events co-ordinator at Zoe’s Place said: “It’s been a fantastic day. The support was brilliant from the people who donated, the companies who joined in, the counters and the collectors.
“The people taking part ranged from small pet shops to big phone companies, but the atmosphere was fantastic everywhere we went and there was a real buzz throughout the day.
Century presenter Lisa Shaw offered her help in the collecting process by spending the day on the back of one of the bikes.
