Middlesbrough Junior Rugby match reports

Boro Under-16s travelled to Doncaster and won 45-0.

Fezan Mughal started it all running 60 metres and going in under the posts.

Ruaridh MacKay put in some good drives but then Sean Mead broke two tackles jinked outside the winger and completed a 50 metre run under the posts.

Tom Mavin and Tom Burridge were playing good stuff but MacKay was soon off again making 30 metres.

Assistance from Mathew Elcoate, Dominic Ayre and Kieran Scanlan saw the ball driving up the right and Sam Gaudie dived over for a well-deserved score.

Some huge tackles were going in and Jack McPhillips saw a Doncaster player go off though it left him a little short of breath.

Sean Mead and Joe Durant were smothering all attacks with some great tackling.

Quick ball from a ruck and fabulous handling then saw a miss-pass move into Fezan Mughal's hands and he roared away for another 50 metre try.

Five minutes after the restart a forward drive and quick ball saw Gaudie ignore the three man overlap to score under the posts.

Well ahead Boro decided to bring on replacements although it stopped their momentum somewhat.

Drives from Ben Learwood and James Wright were rewarded with a five metre scrum and Tom Mavin powered his way over.

Nathan Booth, playing at full back showed his silky skills with a good show and dummy putting Aaman Hussein away.

The game fell flat again before Kieron Scanlan drove on and James Wright picked up and scored. Gaudie capped of a great personal display by slotting his fifth conversion out of seven attempts.

Great report....

... except it was the under-13s.

I know 'cos I was there and that's my son getting a mention.
