Acklam Junior Rugby match reports

The Under-16s hosted Blaydon and beat them 21-12.

Both sides looked well matched and gave nothing away but then Ben Dickinson intercepted a pass and jinked his way from the half way to score and convert.

Both sides defended with vigour until Liam Cochran charged through from 20 metres and Dickinson converted to end the half 14-0.

Blaydon came out for the second half all guns blazing and scored two quick tries with their forwards powering over.

Both sides were now fighting for everything all over the pitch but not getting any joy until Dickinson chipped over the Blaydon backs and then ran on and picked up his own kick and scored.

He then kicked a fantastic conversion into the wind just in from the touch line, bent it superbly to end the game.

The Under-15s also played Blaydon and as the 43-0 result recognises this was a very comfortable win for the Acklam lads.

Seven players scored tries, Chris Nicholson, Aaron Greenhouse, Ben, Rory Smith, and Richard Hewitson scored two as did Josh Clough and finally Chester Nixon.

Fly half Tom Clark converted four.

Acklam Under-14s just scraped through against Blaydon at Crow Trees 21-20.

Road diversions resulted in the team pre match warm up being disrupted but it did not prevent Lewis Catterick scoring two very good tries early in the game which Ricky Scott converted.

The Acklam forwards hoped they were going to have a comfortable game, but their Blaydon counterparts didn't let them.

They were continuously toiling at the break downs starving the backs of ball and opportunities. Richard Martin scored the final try which Ricky Scott converted.
