Fight for equality moves on in Middlesbrough

THE DRIVE to tackle discrimination in Middlesbrough has received a boost thanks to a cash injection.

The Citizen's Advice Bureau on Linthorpe Road provides free, confidential advice to 12,000 people every year.

Now the Equalities and Human Rights Commission has awarded £39,950 to the centre so supported can be provided to those who have suffered discrimination.

Head of the Middlesbrough bureau John Daniels said: "Many people still face discrimination in their day to day lives. Thanks to this funding we are now able to offer free, specialist legal advice, including representation in the employment tribunal or county court."

Anybody who feels that they have suffered discrimination should call in to the Citizen's Advice Bureau office at 9 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough or telephone the discrimination project on its dedicated line, 07958 119879.
