Works on the roads in Middlesbrough

A66 ROAD WORKS

Lane closures are necessary each Sunday at various locations on the A66 for detailed inspection works, gully cleaning, repairs to street lighting and road sweeping. Washing of street sign name plates and direction signs to take place until further notice.
There are no maintenance works scheduled on 14th September 2008.

PROPOSED NORTH MIDDLESBROUGH ACCESSIBILITY SCHEME

Construction works have commenced on the proposed access road linking the A66/ Cannon Park Interchange with Riverside Park Road. Lane restrictions are currently in place during off-peak periods on the A66, between the A19 Interchange and Cannon Park Interchange. Delays are expected.

A66 HIGH MAST COLUMN INSTALLATION

Enabling works have commenced for the installation of high mast columns, on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways, between the A19 Interchange and Cargo Fleet Interchange. Off-peak lane closures will be in place as the works progress and delays may be expected.

NEWPORT ROAD

Lane restrictions will be in place at the junction of Hartington Road until 22nd September 2008, for works associated with the development of Aldi.

SUPERGAY PARADE

The parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday 13th September 2008 with participants assembling in Exchange Square between 11.00 am and 11.45 am. The parade will then travel south along Albert Road to the junction with Corporation Road, east to the junction with Dunning Street, terminating at Central Square at approximately 12.00 pm. There will be implications to traffic and buses for a period of approximately 15 minutes.

NEWPORT ROUNDABOUT

Lane restrictions are in place until mid December 2008, as part of the North Middlesbrough Accessibility Scheme.

MIDDLESBROUGH 10K RACE

The Middlesbrough 10k Race will take place on the morning of Sunday 21st September 2008. The main race will commence at 10.15am, starting on Acklam Road (near the Hall Drive junction), then take the following route - Acklam Road, Ladgate Lane, Marton Road, Marton Burn Road, Keith Road, Emerson Avenue, Green Lane, Acklam Road, Hall Drive (finishing within the grounds of Kings Manor School). A shorter fun run will also take place off road.

For the duration of the race, the roads affected will be closed with access maintained for emergency vehicles. On Marton Road, southbound traffic will be allowed, so that access to the hospital is maintained. Access along Acklam Road, northbound from Trimdon Avenue to Green Lane, will also be permitted.

Road closures are scheduled from 08.45am until 12 noon (with the exception of the southbound section of Acklam Road from Hall Drive to Ladgate Lane which is to be closed from 07.45 am), however roads will be reopened as soon as possible as the race progresses. Full diversion route signing will be in place.

LOW LANE

Works to repair a safety barrier on Low Lane under the A19 over-bridge, will continue until 22nd September 2008. Temporary traffic lights in operation between 09.30 am and 03.30 pm.

KINGSTON AVENUE/ WALTON AVENUE, ACKLAM

Carriageway resurfacing works will commence on 12th September 2008 at the above locations. Access to both roads may be limited and the works are expected to be complete by 17th September 2008.

DIXONS BANK/ GUNNERGATE LANE, MARTON

Temporary traffic signals will be in operation at the above junction to allow for the diversion of utility apparatus, for consecutive Sundays (14th, 21st and 28th September).

NEWINGTON ROAD, BEECHWOOD

CE Electrics are continuing cable installation works at the above location between no. 85 and the junction with Grassington Road. The works will continue until 26th September 2008.

MARTON ROAD

Murphy's are currently carrying out diversion works for NEDL, in the footway/ verge areas between Broadwell Road and Broughton Avenue, as part of advance works for Marton Road Experiment Phase 2 scheme, scheduled to commence in January 2009. The current works are expected to continue until October 2008.

ACKLAM ROAD ROUNDABOUT

Lumsden and Carroll Construction Ltd., will continue works until December 2008 to construct a new roundabout on Acklam Road, at the junction of Springvale Terrace. Temporary traffic signals will be required on occasions, however these will be kept to a minimum to reduce impact on traffic flows.

BRIDGE STREET EAST - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Works are continuing to reconstruct the carriageway and footways on Bridge Street East, from Queens Square to Gray Street. The development works will continue until mid October 2008 and although the road will be closed to vehicles, pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this period.

HIGHBURY AVENUE/ TOLLESBY ROAD JUNCTION

NGN are continuing works to replace a gas main on Highbury Road, at the side of no. 62 Tollesby Road. The works will continue until 20th October 2008.

NEWHAM AVENUE/ TOLLESBY ROAD JUNCTION

NGN are continuing works to replace a gas main on Newham Avenue, at the side of no. 52 Tollesby Road. The work will continue until 20th October 2008.

BOROUGH WIDE SIGNING - ACKLAM ROAD CORRIDOR

Works to replace the existing advance directional signing on Acklam Road/ B1365 will continue until the end of September 2008. Works will be located predominantly within the verges and footways, between the borough boundary in the south and Heywood Street in the north.

STREET LIGHTING MAINTENANCE WORKS

The general maintenance of street lighting columns is continuously ongoing at various locations in Middlesbrough.

FOOTPATH WORKS
MALLOWDALE, NUNTHORPE

Resurfacing works commenced on 11th September 2008, on the footpath between Stainton Way and Clevegate.

MARTON ROAD - ST. JOSEPH'S SCHOOL

Footpath renewal works are ongoing at the above location.

BALDOON SANDS, ACKLAM

Works are continuing to insert dropped kerbs at pedestrian crossings.
