The 43-year-old house husband from Acklam was unsure about whether to try to make it through to Frimley Green again after being unnerved by the glare of the spotlight in his debut at this year’s January event.

But the man who became an overnight crowd hero with his quirky dancing on the oche and Budweiser advert ‘What’s Up?’ celebrations has decided to try and get through to the live televised tournament again on his wife Lesley’s advice.

“My head was in the shed for a long time after it and I’m only just getting back to normal now, said Moody.

“I got so nervous down there that I could hardly eat but I loved it up on stage and went back down on the Friday for the final and really enjoyed it.

“My wife told me to think about the parts that I enjoyed rather than the things that made me nervous, and I’ve decided to go for it again.

Methodical thrower Moody, who shocked 16th seed Niels de Ruiter in the first round before losing to eventual champion Mark Webster, has nine of the 40 points needed to qualify so far and has played at the Isle of Man, Scotland and Barnsley recently.

“Some of the attention has been unbelievable, said the former process operator.

“But everyone I’ve bumped into has been really supportive. I only had one bloke in the pub say I won’t qualify again, so that is motivation enough.
