AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a teenager who collapsed while playing football.
Joshua James Brudenell, 16, pictured, of Manton Avenue, Whinney Banks, Middlesbrough, was having a kickabout with friends when he collapsed on Tuesday, January 29.
The talented Acklam Grange pupil was treated by paramedics and taken to James Cook University Hospital but efforts to resuscitate him failed.
Teesside Coroner Michael Sheffield opened an inquest into Joshua’s death.
Joshua, an avid Manchester United fan, lived with foster parents June and Keith Jolly after his natural parents died.
His dad John Brudenell died aged 55 following a triple heart bypass. His mum, Susan, died aged 32.
Last week June, 60, said: “Josh was always a big part of this family. We all loved him very much.
She said: “Josh was a laugh-a-minute kind of boy. The house was always in uproar from the minute he walked in the door. He was always full of fun. He was an absolutely lovely lad and well liked by everyone.
Mr Sheffield adjourned the inquest to allow investigations into the cause of Joshua’s death.
