PLANNERS have granted permission for two new homes in Linthorpe, despite objections from some residents and a ward councillor.
Consent was sought for two bungalows with garages on a site to the rear of existing properties on Burlam Road.
Yesterday, members of Middlesbrough Council’s planning and development committee approved the outline planning application.
Access to the site is between numbers 47 and 53 Burlam Road.
Letters of objection had been received from two Burlam Road residents and one resident in Dufton Road.
Their concerns included access to the site, the proposed properties being “dominant and out of character with the area, and loss of privacy.
Independent councillor Jackie Elder supported the objections.
Councillor Elder said she was concerned about highway safety issues.
She said she feared there was “an unacceptable risk of accidents.
But Councillor Steve Bloundele said: “I don’t have any problem with development taking place on this land.
And planning committee chairman Councillor John McPartland said: “It is certainly not an overdevelopment. I don’t think it will be intrusive.
