A TEESSIDE primary school is top of the class after chalking up two outstanding reports.
St Joseph's Primary School, on Marton Road, in Middlesbrough, was classed as outstanding by Ofsted inspectors and received top marks for a separate inspection of its religious education, pictured above headteacher, Josie Wilson celebrates with kids from Year Six.
In her report, lead inspector Rosemary Rodger said: "St Joseph's is an outstanding school that provides superbly for the all round care and development of its pupils."
She paid tribute to the "excellent leadership" of headteacher Josie Wilson and governors, and the "high levels of respect and responsibility" demonstrated by the children.
Teaching was described as outstanding and the care and guidance of pupils as excellent.
Ms Rodger added: "The high expectations of the headteacher that every child has a right to succeed permeate all the school's work."
In her report for the Diocese of Middlesbrough on Catholic Life at St Joseph's, Inspector Katherine Snape said: "The behaviour of pupils is outstanding and they thrive in the school's calm and loving atmosphere.
"Collective worship is outstanding, making excellent use of pupils' own experiences and encouraging pupils to voice their own prayers."
Headteacher Josie Wilson said: "I am very proud to be the headteacher of St Joseph's School. It is such a happy place where the children really do enjoy their learning.
"Our success is a result of the wonderful dedication of all who work here, everyone has the very best interests of the children at heart."
Mrs Wilson also praised the parents of pupils at the school and the support of Parish Priest Fr Patrick Keogh.
Councillor Mike Carr, Middlesbrough Council's executive member for children, families and learning, said: "These two glowing reports are a credit to the headteacher, the staff, the pupils and the governors."
