Convincing win for Acklam Under 17's

Due to the weather only two Acklam teams played on Sunday but both the Under 17's and Under 15's had good wins.

Acklam Under 17's 60 points v Lanchester 0 points
Acklam started slowly but after ten minutes they found their game pattern. They were always more competitive throughout the game, and once they started to win quick ruck ball, the Acklam backs took advantage of the space in front of them. What was encouraging for the coaches was that even though they were winning comfortably, they tried to play as a team and this resulted in some excellent unit skills being displayed which was achieved by good support play and a tribute to the team's fitness.

Acklam Under 16's 12 points v Ryton 5 points
Acklam U16's travelled to Ryton today and the first half was a half of stout defending on both sides, with neither pack giving anything away and both sets of backs up quick and tackling quickly which resulted in 0-0 at half time.
The second half and Acklam's backs got some quick ball and Liam Cochran charged forward, delaying his pass to draw the Ryton defence and popping a pass to Aadmire Ngunga to score in the corner (no conversion into a strong cross field wind) .Ryton came back but Acklam defended with vigour and from a mid way scrum, Matty Stockwell (no 8 )picked up and charged forward and passed to Ben Dickinson, who ran along the touch line and round under the posts to score and then converted to make the score 0-12. Ryton still battled away and finally breached Acklam's defence, breaking the line and scoring (no con) 5-12 to set up a furious last few minutes. Unfortunately, neither side could add to the score despite pressure from both sides, so Acklam ran out 12-5 victors.
A good solid game of rugby, all lads gave there all, parents quoted "nice to see 30+lads who wanted to win every ball and battle all game".

Acklam's other games were cancelled due to the weather.
