MORE than a thousand people have given their support to South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust in its bid to become a foundation trust.
Foundation trusts aim to create a patient-led NHS and were set up to give more freedom from central government control.
If successful, the trust will still have to meet targets but residents can become members and have a say in how services are run.
Trust chair Glenys Marriott said: “The trust has continued to seek out members of the public who wish to become more interested and over 1160 have signed up.�
