Top-notch donation

A SERVICE dedicated to helping cancer patients who have lost their hair has received a boost.

The HeadStrong service at The Holistic Cancer Care Centre, James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, shows patients how to wear headscarves and use hats and hairpieces.

Pansies Support Group, an independent breast cancer support group based in Hartlepool, has donated £500 to the Middlesbrough HeadStrong service. The money will be used to provide a free scarf to everyone who goes along.

Isobel Wilson, founder of Pansies and a HeadStrong volunteer, said: “When I had breast cancer, I didn’t need to have chemotherapy, so I was lucky enough to keep my hair. But I’ve seen the effect hair loss can have.

Heather Goodwill, centre manager, said: “We’re always looking to add new lines to our range, and this donation will enable us to do that.
