TWO brothers who used a stolen cheque to buy a sound system have been given jail sentences.
Robert James Thompson, 32, and Delroy Daley, 29, were stopped by police in Grove Hill on the morning of March 27.
Daley had a bag containing a CD player and coins, which had been taken in a burglary, Teesside Crown Court heard.
A £780 cheque from a stolen cheque book was debited and used to buy a sound system, which was sent to the brothers’ address on Beechwood Avenue, Middlesbrough.
The brothers admitted handling stolen goods and fraud by false representation. Thompson also admitted supplying and possessing a Class C drug with intent to supply.
Jonathan Walker, defending Thompson, said he showed motivation to change.
Sam Faulks, for Daley, said he showed remorse and insight.
Judge Tony Briggs jailed Thompson for 15 months - nine for the drugs offences, six for the fraud. Daley’s six-month prison sentence was suspended for 18 months with supervision, drug rehabilitation and a substance-related offending programme.
