FRIENDS and family of a Teesside man gathered together to raise money in his honour.
Several teams took part in a football tournament in memory of Michael Burns, 25, from Netherfields, who died in a car crash on April 30.
The talented guitarist was driving a Ford Transit van when it collided with a lorry close to Thirsk.
Friends organised a football match last nightmon at the Goals centre in Middlesbrough to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance.
Members of Michael’s family watched as ten men and ten women enjoyed football in the rain.
Michael’s mum Denise said: “The support people are showing here is really fantastic.
“I know a lot of his colleagues talked about Michael’s smile and they said he was such a happy-go-lucky lad. But he was responsible as well and had his own house and his own car.
“He loved his music and we have his four guitars at home.
Michael was in a band with mates and The Rogues played at a charity gig in his honour a few weeks ago at North Ormesby Workingmen’s Club which raised £2,700.

Lindsey Blackburn, 22, from The Buccaneer pub nearby, organised the football event and said she hoped to raise £1,000. She said: “We wanted to do something for Michael and everyone here either knew him or knew his family.
Ron Musgrove, a fundraiser from the Great North Air Ambulance, said: “It is really an honour and a privilege to come here and see these people raising money.
