Loftus

NORTH Ormesby 1-5 Loftus Athletic

Loftus took the lead after 10 minutes when the powerful George Garbutt broke clear and finished confidently.

Despite many close shaves at both ends that was the only score going into the break.

Loftus stepped up a gear and doubled their lead early in the second period with a carbon copy of the first goal again with Garbutt slamming it past the despairing home keeper.

Ormesby rallied and pulled one back when a corner was not cleared.

Ryan Thompson then virtually sealed the tie with a rasping drive from 25 yards.

Jon Morrison then made it 4-1 firing in from close range and with five minutes left, captain Dan Stonehouse scored a beauty from 30 yards giving the home keeper no chance.

Both sides deserve credit for what was a very keenly contested tie in appalling wet conditions.
