On the buses? It's a wonder you'd want to be

Getting the bus is not such an easy ride these days. Forget about those recollections of the jolly old days with Stan and Jack awaiting your arrival with a welcoming smile, it's likely you'll be greeted with some grumpy old bloke who practically loathes you for coming aboard.

The only sign of a welcome is literally the 'Welcome Aboard!' sign, which has been ripped and graffitied on. This is what I have to experience almost every day when catching public transport and believe me, there's no silver lining in this grey exhaust cloud.

Anyone who travels at peak times (if there's any space for you at all) will know it's a nightmare alive with demons from the local schools throwing tickets left right and centre.

Yet, they want to charge us an extra 10p every three months to make 'improvements' and 'refine their service'.

Does it cost significantly more to hire a driver with a polite demeanour and the correct change? Perhaps they could spend the money on some new buses or even seat belts to strap the kids down?

I see the bus drivers give each other a pleasant wave when they pass but I can't help thinking it's a smirk at the knowledge of the hell they get to inflict on us innocent citizens daily.

So, next time you're about to jump on the bus, make sure you're a) at least 15 minutes early, b) aware that any positive attitude (including smiling, humming and general chat) is strictly prohibited and will be dulled by the roaring engine and c) you've abandoned all hope.

Competely agree with everything else though. Gave me a great giggle whilst at work. Keep up the good work Launar
