Capable, Polite and Enthusiastic Student Needs Employment... Now!

MY unemployment is verging past a joke now... I am actually starting to doubt my potential as an employee; it's rather depressing. In fact, I've spent more money printing out CVs and buying stamps than I have earned from a job. I've either been turned down due to a better experienced candidate or just heard nothing back at all! I'm constantly checking emails and dashing to the phone whenever it rings, someone must see some potential in me... mustn't they?

I can take some comfort though, as some of my others friends are finding it a struggle too. A few times I've been cheekily filling in a job application form online at college and had the occasional swan-necker asking what site I'm on (and I swear, I just can't figure out why that thoroughly correctly spelt link isn't working for you, maybe you should try a different site?) It's like standing in the line in Primary School waiting to get picked for the sport team, and each time another of my friends gets employed my desperation increases! I vow if the competition is going to make picket signs with 'Pick Me' written on them, mine is going to be in flashing neon lights!

Even with my EMA contract finally sorted and signed, I'm still only saving (my parents) £40 a month which just to say covers my travel costs. I have practically next to nothing for all the really important studenty things us students need like clothes, shoes, make-up, games, and err.. not forgetting of course books, educational software and fees for trips! It all adds up to money I simply just don't have and it just gets worse with Christmas practically knocking on our door with all the temptation of pretty, flash and downright expensive presents. And it's all thanks to, and I promised I would never blog this phrase, the credit crunch... I'm trying to avoid this crisis as I don't see the benefit from dwelling on it!

Wrapping up, apologises for such a late blog; my computer has yet again let me down! I'm actually in my neighbours at the moment who coincidently was recently in the Evening Gazette on a topic I've previously blogged, 'STRANDED Calls for change to rural bus services' . So wish me luck guys and if you're thinking of getting me anything for Christmas, make it a job please!

Hiya,

again, a great blog, too bad on the job front, although I think it's safe to say it's not you, it's the current job situation.

Given that, what are your hopes etc for the future? Do you think we'll swing out of the 'crunch' and recover or do you think the future looks grim?

I'd love to know what your vision of the future is?
