The PM has recited Rupert Brooke's poem The Soldier for the official First World War centenary album, which also includes contributions from Stephen Fry, Radio 4's Today presenter James Naughtie and Game Of Thrones actor Sean Bean.

The album of words and music, called Forever, will also include appearances from the descendants of servicemen who were awarded the Victoria Cross for their gallantry in the war whose voices have been assembled for a version of John McCrae's In Flanders Fields.david cameron april 2014.jpg

eatenders undertaker.jpgAfter more than 100 murders, suicides, accidents and fatal illnesses, Albert Square is finally getting its own undertaker with TV veteran Roger Sloman joining EastEnders.

The actor, who first appeared on screen as Les Coker in 2012 when he organised the funeral for Pat Evans, joins the cast full-time this month.

Viewers have already seen him recently arranging Nick Cotton's send-off and he will be joined by Lin Blakley, who is playing his wife Pam.

Roger said: "It's hugely rewarding to be working alongside actors who I have a huge admiration for and have been a part of my life for so long. It is a thrill to play Les, who has so many different angles and is not a straightforward character. It is also a pleasure to be working alongside Lin Blakley."

albert square jan 2014.jpegBBC bosses are to build a new Albert Square after using the same set for long-running soap EastEnders for almost three decades.

The staff and cast were informed this morning that the exterior scenery at the studios in Elstree will be rebuilt and expanded "in order to secure the long-term future of both the show and site".

It will be completely replicated and the built area will expand by a fifth, with work expected to be completed in 2018.

The revamp of Walford has been approved by the BBC's executive board just weeks after ITV rival Coronation Street overhauled its set as it moved to a new studio location in Salford.
