Our girl over the pond LA Dolly is back to give us the lowdown on the latest happenings at the E3 video games convention in Los Angeles...

Day 1 Sony and Nintendo press conferences in the morning. Both mega houses focussing on motion controllers.

Sony focussed on the new PSP which looks cool but the PlayStation Motion Controller was the more exciting news for me. Something to temp me to buy a PS3...

Nintendo Satoru Iwata revealed Wii Vitality Sensor and they also announced the rather cute looking Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Day 1 of the show saw Posh Spice and her kids playing the new Rock Band game on the EA stand and Mickey Rourke made a fleeting visit to the Bethesda stand to sign Rogue Warrior posters.

The highlight of the day for me though was getting hands on time with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

The cute characters from both Nintendo and SEGA, coupled with new fun events like skiing, figure skating, bobsleigh and ice hockey. Hang tight for day 2 - am told it's going to rain. Ahhh nothing like a bit of blighty in LAXoxo LA Dolly

Steve Wollaston - Sunday Mercury games reviewer Steve has been writing about video games for donkey's years. In fact he is probably far too old for it now which is why you will see a lot of reviews been done by kids... He has been nominated three times for Regional Games Journalist Of The Year at the Games Media Awards, but never wins. His major love is sports games and rates Sensible World of Soccer circa 90's as the greatest game ever made - closely followed by Championship Manager 2. Skyrim has currently taken over his life.
